Policy-making, government and Cynefin - a new 2-day course

Written by Tony Quinlan | Aug 29, 2014 12:09:02 PM

There's a new course coming up - one relevant for anyone interested in public organisations, government and policy-making in uncertain times.  Luckily, I'm getting to support the course - I'll be getting to co-teach with Thomas Townsend in Ottawa in early October.

The course will be running at HUB Ottawa 71 Bank Street, 6th Floor Ottawa, Canada on Thurs 2nd October-Fri 3rd October 2014.  There are more details here and you can register here.

If you are a policy professional looking for new practices that increase impact by using advances in complexity science, sense-making, and resilience thinking this is the course for you.

Thomas is an excellent thinker and teacher on Public Policy, his background as Executive Head of the Policy Research Initiative was preceded by senior spells with the Canadian Mission to the European Union, in Skills Development and Learning, Offender and Prison programs and others.

His breadth of experience brings unique insight to the policy-making process and its need for specific thinking and research - married to my own background in complexity thinking and narrative research, the course should be stimulating but, most importantly, practical in presenting new ways to work in this critical field.

After the Ottawa course, we will be thinking about where else to present the course - if you're interested in the topic but Ottawa's inconvenient, let me know...
